"Echoes of Calm" is a deeply personal exploration of finding serenity amidst life’s complexities. The soft, textured flowers bloom with quiet confidence, embodying the sense of calm that emerges after a storm of emotions. As I painted these blossoms, I felt a connection to the resilience within — each petal and brushstroke a meditation on the inner strength that quietly anchors us. The butterflies, gently dancing around the flowers, symbolize fleeting moments of joy and transformation, reminding me of how we grow through change, even when it feels delicate and uncertain. The rich, layered background is a reflection of my own emotional landscape — a blend of darker tones and radiant bursts of color, much like the ebb and flow of my own thoughts. This piece represents my journey to embrace peace within chaos, a reminder that even in the most tumultuous times, there is a space within where beauty and calmness can thrive. For me, "Echoes of Calm" is more than just a painting; it’s a visual diary of self-discovery, healing, and the quiet power of staying grounded in the present moment.

Artist Profile:

"To live without hope is to cease to live" as stated by Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky the famous novelist, in a way summarizes the vibrant and captivating artworks created by Babita. As an abstract realism artist based in Singapore, her creative journey started much later in her life, after she quit her successful corporate life to being a present mom for her kids. Recognizing her deep passion for artistic expression, her self-taught journey brought these bold and colourful abstract portraits to life. Her uniquely characterized artworks inherently carry a distinctive strength displaying resilience and fortitude in their attitudes thus promoting a sense of hope for everyone. Skilfully employing a variety of mediums such as oils, acrylics, pastels, textures, and spray paints, Babita hopes to tell a story that invites viewers to recognize the complexities of their emotions, fostering a connection between the artwork and their own inner worlds, helping them rediscover the hope embedded in their dreams and imagination.

About The Art of Giving

‘The Art of Giving’ was conceptualised by The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) in 2018 as an alternative fundraiser through auction and sale of donated artworks.

The collaboration between NKF and Pei Lin Limited Liability Partnership stands as a testament to the transformative power of art and the profound impact of giving. Through this initiative, artists have come together to harness their creative talents in support of a worthy cause, demonstrating how the art of giving can foster compassion, creativity, and collaboration.

By pledging 50% of sales proceeds to NKF, these artists have not only shared their artistry with the world but also extended a lifeline of support to individuals in need. As we reflect on the art of giving as a collaboration between NKF and Pei Lin LLP, we are reminded of the boundless potential of collective action to create a brighter, more compassionate world—one brushstroke, sculpture, or photograph at a time.
